Sex and Gender Reporting (SAGER)

Sex and Gender Reporting Policy

Cancer Biome and Targeted Therapy supports the Sex and Gender Equity in Research (SAGER) guidelines and encourages authors to consider sex and gender as relevant biological and sociocultural variables in their study design, data analysis, results, and interpretation. Authors should:

  • Indicate whether sex and/or gender were considered and how.
  • Report sex-disaggregated data where applicable.
  • Justify if sex and/or gender analysis is not applicable.
  • Use the terms “sex” (biological attribute) and “gender” (identity or sociocultural factor) appropriately.

Authors who do not incorporate sex and gender considerations must clearly explain the rationale in their manuscript. Manuscripts that ignore sex or gender when relevant may be returned for revision.
