Figures Copyrights and Licenses
Authors are responsible for ensuring that all figures, images, and illustrations submitted for publication comply with copyright and licensing requirements.
Figures created using software, online platforms, or templates (e.g., BioRender) must be covered by a license that permits publication. Submission of figures without the appropriate license may constitute copyright infringement and could result in publication delays or removal of figures.
If a figure is created with BioRender or similar online tools, authors must:
-
Use a publication-permitted subscription (e.g., Lab or Academic Plan with publishing rights). All figures created using third-party software or platforms must include proper attribution and, if applicable, a license statement.
Publishing BioRender figures in a scientific journal
If a figure is reproduced or adapted from a previously published article, authors must:
1- If the original article was published in an OA journal, then the author needs to acknowledge the figure and cite the reference with a mention (adapted from ).
2- If the original figure was published in a non-OA subscription journal, then the author needs to obtain explicit permission from the publisher to reproduce and publish the figure and cite the reference with a mention (adapted or reproduced from ). This is still required even if the authors are the same on both articles.
By submitting their manuscript to Cancer Biome and Targeted Therapy (CBTT), all authors acknowledge and certify that they have obtained all necessary permissions for publication and agree to indemnify the journal and publisher against any claims related to figure copyright infringement.
